Exeptional Person (Imaginative Refections of W. Redika by W. Seriyoga P.)
“Aesthetic experience would be valueless because of joyful; aesthetic experience would be valuable because of people who involved become more sensitive and imaginative”
When Wayan Redika showed me his paintings and drawings capturing portraits of several national ind international figures, they were clearly still within the creative process. I could not discern anything one would characterize as extraordinary except that they reflected the maturity of technique and creative processes of the creator himself. Several of the portraits were quite familiar to his writer and indeed may be to most people as they can be found easily on the internet. These iconic portraits have certainly become familiar to the public, however it is less common to find an artist who tries to gain a deeper understanding of the ideas and the thoughts reflected in a portrait.
These works not only presented as usual portraits, more than that, the portraits were clearly a medium through which the artist expressed anxiety arising from social, political and cultural phenomena. A reminder that, in the absence of values and morality, lays corruption that is often entrenched and continuously inherited, banally perpetuated by the country’s leaders. Moreover, law which was intended to be a spearhead for the eradication of corruption is transformed into a simulated game and widely represented to the public through the mass media.
